About VIPKid
VIPKid, run by Beijing Dami Technology and founded in 2013 by Cindy Mi, sells live online English immersion classes. The lessons are based on US Common Core standards. Parents pay for class packages, and teachers are mainly in the US and Canada. It was a unicorn: Tencent, Sequoia China, Coatue, Sinovation and others backed it, and its last round was a Series E of about $150M in 2019 at a reported $4.5B valuation. At its peak it had over 500,000 paying students and more than 60,000 teachers. Third-party sites estimate roughly 9,100 employees in 2026, and revenue figures vary by source.
