Salesforce to acquire Rune Technologies, a military logistics AI startup
Salesforce said it signed a definitive agreement to buy Rune Technologies, whose TyrOS software helps frontline military units forecast supply needs, plan movements and keep working without a network connection. The company is already deployed with the U.S. Army and U.S. Marine Corps. Salesforce did not disclose the price. Resilience Media reported about $375M in cash and stock citing two unnamed sources, but no wire service or the acquirer has confirmed that figure, so this entry leaves the amount blank. Rune was founded in 2024 by David Tuttle and Peter Goldsborough, both former Anduril leaders, and has raised more than $30M from investors such as Andreessen Horowitz and Point72 Ventures. The purchase is Salesforce's largest national security acquisition to date and will sit within its Missionforce unit, which the company says grew 80% year over year in defense. For founders, the signal is that large enterprise platforms will pay for specialized operators with edge-deployed AI agents. Teams selling into government should expect buyers to favor proven field deployments over general-purpose tooling.
