About Brex

Brex, founded in 2017 by Pedro Franceschi and Henrique Dubugras, offers corporate cards, expense management, treasury and bill pay, with AI agents that automate finance workflows. It serves more than 25,000 businesses, from Y Combinator startups to larger firms such as DoorDash, Coinbase, Anthropic and OpenAI (2026). It earns money from card interchange, software and treasury products. It raised about $1.2–1.7B in total and hit a $12.3B valuation in 2021–22. Revenue was reported at about $500M annualized in 2024. Capital One agreed to buy it for $5.15B in January 2026, and the deal closed in April 2026. Brex still operates as its own product under CEO Franceschi.
