sammy Harrison here!!

Hey Lounge 👋

I’m Sammy Harrison (GitHub: sammyharrison58).

Builder, founder, and lifelong learner based in Kenya. Currently the founder of Harris Apex, while deep-diving into code, design, and data science.

What I’m focused on right now:

  • Learning Data Science
  • Building practical web apps and tools (Python, Java, JavaScript, C/C++)
  • Shipping projects around e-commerce, gigs platforms, and real-world problem solving
  • Exploring design + CapCut video editing on the side

I believe in building in public and connecting with other serious founders and builders. Always happy to exchange ideas, get feedback, or collaborate.

Looking forward to learning from the room and sharing the journey.

With both e-commerce and gigs platforms on your list, I'd pick the gigs one and start narrow in Nairobi: fundis like plumbers and electricians who already hunt for jobs in WhatsApp groups. Sign up the first 20 by hand, then use your CapCut skills to make a short video of one of them landing a job through your tool, which will spread further than any ad.

Thanks, that’s solid advice.Starting narrow with fundis in Nairobi makes a lot of sense — they already live in WhatsApp groups looking for work, so the distribution is already there. Signing up the first 20 by hand feels right before trying to scale anything.I like the CapCut idea too. A short real video of one of them actually getting a job through the tool would probably travel further than any paid promotion.I’m thinking of testing a very simple version first — just matching requests to available fundis and handling the initial connection. Would love to hear if you’ve seen similar local marketplaces work (or fail) in that space.
