Quarterly gatherings in Reno and Tahoe could fill a real gap, since a lot of founders up there build on their own and only meet peers when they drive down to the Bay Area. Mixing a few short presentations with drinks gives people a solid reason to show up and an easy way to keep talking afterward.
I lived in the Bay area for almost 20 years. (SF for 14 of it.) I have been in Reno since Mid 2018. This is home, and it is a growing tech scene.
