Building GCC Connect: Meaningful Business Connections Between Malaysia and the GCC
Today, I'd like to share another part of what we're building at TGPU Gulf Advisory.
GCC Connect started with a simple belief:
Good opportunities often begin with the right people finding each other. But meaningful cross-border business relationships require more than exchanging contacts.
They require trust, context, shared interests, and a clear reason to collaborate.
We're developing GCC Connect as a professional networking platform that brings together businesses, specialists, founders, and potential partners across Malaysia and the GCC.
Our longer-term vision also includes the TGPU Gulf Leaders Circle — a more selective community for business leaders, founders, decision-makers, and experienced professionals who can contribute knowledge, connections, and meaningful opportunities.
We're still developing this vision, and one principle matters to me:
I'd rather build a smaller, trusted network that creates genuine value than a large directory of disconnected contacts.
Here's where I'd really appreciate feedback from fellow founders:
- What makes you trust a new professional or B2B networking platform?
- How would you qualify members while keeping the application process simple?
- Would a carefully curated community be more valuable to you than an open networking directory?
I'm also interested in connecting with 2–3 founders or business operators in Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, or the UAE who would be willing to share feedback on this concept.
For organisations interested in exploring GCC Connect, our collaboration application page is:

I look forward to learning from your experiences and exchanging ideas.

On your third question, a curated community is worth more to me than an open directory, and the Gulf Leaders Circle is where that trust could turn into revenue. Will members pay to join it, or will Malaysian and Gulf companies pay for introductions?
Thank you, Ryan. That's a very important question, and I appreciate you raising it. I'm leaning towards a hybrid model, but with a clear distinction between community membership and commercial services. For the TGPU Gulf Leaders Circle, I'd initially prefer a small, invitation-only network of credible founders, business leaders and professionals, without charging membership fees. My priority is to establish trust, quality and genuine engagement first. For the commercial side, I believe Malaysian and GCC companies would be more likely to pay for qualified business matching, carefully coordinated introductions and market-entry advisory services, with clearly defined scopes and professional fees agreed upfront. I don't want to monetise connections simply for the sake of it. The value should come from helping businesses identify credible opportunities and suitable partners. Would you recommend validating the paid matching service first before considering a membership fee for the Leaders Circle? I'd really value your perspective. Muhammad
