Atomico
About Atomico
Atomico invests in ambitious tech founders at Series A and beyond with a particular focus on Europe, leveraging deep operational experience to supercharge their growth. Founded in 2006, Atomico has partnered with over 100 ambitious teams - including those at Klarna, Supercell, Graphcore, Compass, MessageBird, Masterclass, Attentive Mobile, Pipedrive and Hinge Health.
Atomico was founded in 2006 by Niklas Zennström, a co-founder of Skype and Kazaa. He remains founder and CEO. The firm is headquartered in London, with offices in Paris, Berlin and Stockholm. In September 2024 it announced $1.24 billion across two funds, its largest raise to date. They are the $754 million Atomico Growth VI, which backs companies from Series B to pre-IPO, and the $485 million Atomico Venture VI, an early-stage fund. It was the first time Atomico raised separate funds for its multi-stage strategy. The previous fund, Atomico V, was $820 million. Seedtable lists Zennström, Andreas Helbig, Laura Connell, Sasha Vidiborskiy and Tom Wehmeier (Partner and Head of Intelligence) among the partners. Atomico does not publish a separate AI team, so we do not name an AI lead.
Atomico has no standalone AI fund. AI deals come out of its general early-stage and growth funds, and the 2026 deals on the Lounge deals desk show it leading rounds at seed. In August 2026 it led a $100M seed in Callosum, a London AI infrastructure company. Plural, DCVC and the UK Sovereign AI Fund also took part. In June 2026 it led a $16M seed in Frontier Health, which builds an AI agent for NHS administrative teams. Andreas Helbig is listed as the Atomico partner on that deal. The Lounge deals desk also records a $14.5M seed in Plato, led by Atomico, in February 2026. The examples span AI infrastructure and applied AI in healthcare, and the rounds are large for seed.
Atomico invests from seed and Series A through growth, and its Growth VI fund covers Series B to pre-IPO. Atomico does not publish check sizes. Tracxn reports average round sizes across Atomico deals of about $3.6M at seed, $16.8M at Series A and $60.9M at Series B. These are total round sizes, not Atomico's own cheques. Its 2026 AI seed rounds ranged from $14.5M to $100M and Atomico led each one.
- Callosum: London AI infrastructure company whose software splits AI workloads into tasks and routes each to the best-suited model and chip. $100M seed led by Atomico, August 2026.
