Seasonal pages: the SEO work has to start before the season, not during it

Every year around this time I see the same pattern: a business notices its holiday or end-of-year page is not ranking, and starts working on it in late November. By then it is mostly too late. A new title, a content update or a few links usually take weeks to show up in positions, so the push lands after the peak.

A quick way to find your seasonal pages: in Search Console, open Performance, set the date range to the last 16 months, switch to Pages and compare months. Pages whose impressions jump in the same months every year are your seasonal ones. Note when the climb starts, not just when it peaks, because that is roughly your deadline.

Then the usual order applies: make sure the page is actually indexed, fix the title for what people type in that season, refresh the content with this year's dates and offers, and add internal links from your strongest pages. Keep the same URL every year instead of creating a new one, so the page keeps what it earned last season.

We added a seasonality check to SEO Radar for exactly this reason, but the manual version above takes ten minutes.
Question for the room: does your product have a season, and how early do you start preparing for it?

So true! Surprisingly few founders and tech teams view seasonal infrastructure from a systems perspective.

Most treat seasonal pages as a quick campaign rather than a long-term architectural asset. When you operate globally, managing indexation cycles and intent signals 2–3 months in advance is mandatory — otherwise, you're just leaving market share on the table right before the peak.

    Thanks for highlighting this, Aleksandr!

Using the week impressions start to climb as the deadline, instead of the peak, is the part most small shops get wrong, and it's why their holiday page finally ranks in January. Ten minutes in Search Console to find that date could save the season for a store that makes most of its year in November and December.
