Building a Global Tech Company from Africa: How Do You Find the Right Market Position?

Hello AI Lounge community!

I am Alfred Mbairamadji, founder and CEO of DJEMBONDE DIGITAL, a technology company based in Lomé, Togo, West Africa.

We develop digital solutions at the intersection of AI, SaaS, software development and business automation.

Our activities include:

AI-powered applications and integrations.

Custom SaaS platforms and business software.

CRM and ERP systems.

Web applications and digital platforms.

Business process automation.

Fintech and digital innovation.

Technology consulting and digital transformation.

We also develop our own technology initiatives while providing digital solutions for our clients.

Over time, this journey has allowed us to work on a variety of projects, explore different technologies, and understand the challenges companies face when they adopt digital solutions.

However, I have arrived at an important strategic question:

How do you turn a broad range of technical skills into a focused and competitive commercial offering on the international stage?

I do not want DJEMBONDE DIGITAL to be seen simply as another agency offering websites, apps and AI development services.

My ambition is to build a recognized African tech company, with a clear market position, a strong value proposition, sustainable revenue streams and products that can compete internationally.

I am currently working to improve three key areas:

Market positioning: Which services should we prioritize to stand out in an increasingly competitive global AI and software market?

Go-to-market strategy: How can a tech company operating in an emerging African market effectively attract international clients and build trust with companies in Europe, North America and elsewhere?

Business model and scalability: How should we balance custom client projects, recurring service revenue and the development of our own SaaS products?

I would particularly appreciate the advice of founders who have successfully moved from service companies to scalable technology companies.

If you have faced a similar challenge, I would love to hear what worked, what didn't, and what you would do differently today.

I am here to learn, exchange experiences and build meaningful connections with serious people who are building technology companies.

Building from Africa. Thinking globally. Creating sustainable tech companies.

Alfred, the services-to-product jump almost always starts by picking ONE of those offerings and packaging it as a named, fixed-scope product with its own case study, not by building broad trust first. International buyers trust a specific result for a specific problem faster than a general capability list, even from a brand-new company. Happy to go deeper on this if useful: calendly.com/tom-artemisgtm/artemis-gtm-consulting
