GenRobot AI raises $100M Series A+ to supply robot training data
GenRobot AI, a Beijing company that supplies data infrastructure for robot development, has closed a $100 million Series A+ round, according to TechNode, which disclosed the deal on November 2. The financing closed in the third quarter. The company makes capture equipment and software that record people performing tasks. Its hardware logs video along with hand and body motion in household, manufacturing and logistics work. Its Matrix platform then synchronizes, cleans and labels those recordings so robot developers can use them.
Named investors include SAIC Motor, Malaysia's Eastworlds, Baidu, Shoucheng Holdings and Galaxy General Robotics. Financial backers include GL Ventures, CITIC Goldstone, CCB International and Huatai Zijin. The disclosure does not identify a lead investor or report a valuation. Momenta led the company's earlier Series A, which Gasgoo reported as closed in late August, and cumulative funding now exceeds $200 million.
A secondary account from FourWeekMBA, which cites PEdaily, says effective data delivered per quarter rose from 100,000 hours to 1 million hours, and that the company has a plan for 10 million hours in 2027. Those operating figures come from that secondary account and are not confirmed by the round disclosure.
Why it matters
For founders, the round suggests that demonstration data for embodied AI now attracts money from carmakers and platform companies, not only from robot makers. SAIC Motor and Baidu are among the named investors, and Momenta, an autonomous driving developer, led the earlier round. Teams training robot policies can now treat demonstration data as something to purchase rather than something to collect internally.
For investors and operators, the category now has funded competitors, so pricing, labeling quality and delivered volume will become the comparison points. The absence of a disclosed valuation makes it hard to benchmark terms. Buyers should ask suppliers for hours delivered, labeling standards and coverage across task types before committing, and should check whether recordings transfer across the robot models they plan to use.
