Shipped: Fitness Challenge
This is the first product to be shipped by FamilyUnion. Following its vision of Family Wellbeing, starting with Physical and mental wellbeing by encouraging the family to engage in a healthy competition and get unglued from their screen with the endless products trying to get them to.
The idea is easy, the app connects with your wearable and phone sensors,
- A user creates a private group(s), adds their family, friends, or coworkers
- Start a fitness challenge, steps, calories, distance, ...
The rest is handled by the app. It’s designed so everyone pushes each other positively to win the challenge through social accountability, but the good news is there are no losers - everyone wins if you think about it.
Don’t have a group to do challenges with? That's totally fine - there are several AI rivals with varying difficulty levels waiting in the app that you can add to your group to keep you moving.
To make things even more interesting, you can form teams within your group to compete against each other. For example, you can set up Mike’s family vs. Ben’s family, or You can have the Engineering team compete against the Design team, where the team that logs the most steps wins.
What satisfies me most as a founder is when people send me screenshots - not just from my app, but from their health apps showing positive trend changes and VO2 Max improvements, or other health metric shifts. Thinking that I might be a small reason someone lives a healthier life long-term is what keeps me motivated to continue developing this app.
I’ve been hearing from friends and strangers alike that it feels refreshingly different from other walking apps thanks to:
- Clean, elegant and simple UI
- Flexible challenge setups
- Real-time leaderboards
- Activity rings that sync across both iOS and Android
- Zero annoying ads

Coworker challenges like Engineering vs. Design could end up paying the bills for the family side. HR teams already have wellness budgets and one company can bring in 200 walkers at once, while most families won't pay for a step app, especially when you've promised zero ads.
