About Peak XV Partners

History and team

Peak XV Partners was founded in 2006 as Sequoia Capital India & SEA and became independent of Sequoia in 2023, when it rebranded. TechCrunch reported in February 2026 that the firm manages over $10 billion across 16 funds and has seven general partners. Managing Director Shailendra Singh speaks for the firm on AI. Abhishek Mohan was promoted to general partner in early 2026. The firm has offices in Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi, Singapore and Dubai, and it plans a U.S. office. In early 2026, senior partners Ashish Agrawal, Ishaan Mittal and Tejeshwi Sharma left. Singh attributed the exits to an internal disagreement.

AI investing

Peak XV says it has made about 80 AI-linked investments. Singh has argued that AI will reshape venture investing more than earlier technology shifts, and that AI investors need deep technical understanding rather than generalist experience. The firm has said it is recruiting researchers and engineers with machine learning backgrounds. In February 2026 it announced investments in five early-stage AI startups at the India AI Impact Summit: Companion Labs, Kello, Memfold AI, Round1 and Zoop. Of the 23 companies in its Surge 11 accelerator cohort, 12 were AI startups. Software, developer tools and fintech remain central areas. The February 2026 $1.3 billion raise is meant partly to back AI founders across India and APAC.

Stages and check sizes

Peak XV does not publish its check sizes. Shizune reports typical whole-round sizes of $1.5M to $11M at seed, $5.5M to $26M at Series A and $10M to $63M at Series B, and says these describe rounds, not the firm's own checks. Other trackers give different check estimates, so founders should confirm terms directly. The firm's Surge accelerator raised its maximum seed check to $5 million for its latest 18-startup cohort. Outside accelerators, the firm invests from seed through growth stages across India, Southeast Asia and the U.S.
