Assaf Rappaport
About Assaf Rappaport
Assaf Rappaport is based in New York and is the co-founder and CEO of Wiz, a cloud security company he started in February 2020. Wiz is a cloud security platform (CNAPP), and Calcalist describes its sale to Google as a deal worth about $32 billion, the largest exit in Israeli history.
Before Wiz, he co-founded the SaaS security company Adallom in 2012 with Ami Luttwak and Roy Reznik. Microsoft acquired Adallom in July 2015 for about $320 million. At Microsoft he led the Cloud Security Group, working on Azure security, and from 2018 to 2020 he was General Manager of Microsoft Israel R&D. He served in Unit 8200 in the Israeli military and holds a BSc from Hebrew University and an MSc from the Technion.
He has been a member of Cyberstarts since March 2020 and has been a founding LP and investment committee member at Mensch Capital Partners since August 2021, according to a Clay profile.
Counts of his investments differ by source and depend on what has been disclosed. Crunchbase lists 26 investments, 0 lead investments and 0 recorded exits. A Calcalist review published in July 2026 found at least 37 active startup investments and eight venture capital funds he has backed. Calcalist also says 11 of the companies he invested in have reached exits. Tracxn lists 21 investments.
Calcalist reports that he is often invested alongside his fellow Wiz founders, mostly in cybersecurity and AI. It describes his approach as largely passive: he does not usually take advisory or board roles or get involved in day-to-day management. Most deals, it says, are brought to him or his team by entrepreneurs and venture capital firms. Over the past year he has also backed the Israeli media group Merit Foundation.
Calcalist counted at least 10 investments by him in the first half of 2026, ranging from Seed to Series A. It notes that many angel investments are not publicly reported.
Crunchbase counts 16 AI investments by Rappaport since 2023. Its AI portfolio includes Guardio, Bold Security, Irregular, Clover Security, Twine, JetStream Security, PointFive, Attestable, Fundamental, Atero, Neo Security and Harmony.
Recent public rounds that included him:
- Guardio: a $40 million round at a $1.1 billion valuation. The round was led by existing investors, and Rappaport joined as an investor. This round is listed as 2026-09 on the Lounge deals desk.
- A Security: $37 million across a $5 million Seed and a $32 million follow-on. Cyberstarts led the Seed, and Cyberstarts and Lightspeed led the follow-on. Rappaport is named among the angels.
- Engram: a San Francisco startup building an AI memory layer for enterprises, which raised $98 million in June 2026.
- NewCore: $66 million in Seed and pre-Seed funding in June 2026, focused on identity security for AI agents.
- Ocean Security: $28 million for AI-agent email security, with a Lightspeed-led Series A.
- Frame Security: a $50 million round for AI-era social engineering defense.
- Notch: a $30 million Series A for AI agents in customer experience.
Calcalist frames his 2026 deals as a move toward AI systems, enterprise security and data-heavy applications.
Stage: his deals span pre-Seed and Seed through Series A, and he usually joins rounds led by venture firms such as Cyberstarts, Lightspeed, Sequoia or Index rather than leading them. Crunchbase shows 0 lead investments.
Sectors: cybersecurity and AI, including AI security, identity security, cloud and SaaS security, and AI agents for enterprise workflows. NFX Signal ranks him in Series A Security, Cloud Infrastructure and Enterprise categories.
Geography: Israel is the main base, with some US startups such as Engram. NFX also lists San Francisco Bay Area cybersecurity among his rankings.
Check size: he has not published one. Calcalist reports that in most cases he invests no more than several hundred thousand dollars per company. NFX Signal lists a range of $5K to $50K with a $25K sweet spot, but that is a third-party estimate and may be outdated. Founders should treat both as indications only.
Founders should expect a passive angel who can offer introductions in security and the Wiz network, not an operating partner.
