Lepton AI
Lepton AI offered a Python-native cloud platform for building, deploying and scaling AI applications, with GPU server rentals, an inference engine and an open-source Photon framework. It sold to startups and developers on a subscription and usage basis. It was founded in 2023 by Yangqing Jia (creator of Caffe, ex-Alibaba VP) and Junjie Bai, and raised an $11M seed round in 2023 backed by CRV and Fusion Fund. NVIDIA acquired it in April 2025 for a reported several hundred million dollars, when it had about 20 employees, and the product became NVIDIA DGX Cloud Lepton.
