Carbon Health
Carbon Health is a health technology and management services organization. It supplies non-clinical and operational support, a proprietary EHR and patient app, and virtual care to physician-owned medical groups. These groups ran about 93 urgent and primary care clinics in eight states and served over 800,000 patients a year, with roughly 1,400 employees at its February 2026 Chapter 11 filing. It earns revenue from patient and insurer billing for clinic visits. It raised about $600M+ in venture funding through 2023, including a $100M round backed by CVS Health Ventures. The company filed for Chapter 11 on Feb 2, 2026. A debt-for-equity plan was confirmed on May 29, 2026, with about $33M in new capital and ownership passing to its lenders, who plan to invest in AI. In June 2026 it also agreed a $4.5M settlement with the California Attorney General over corporate-practice-of-medicine allegations.
