Low-cost wireless service provider selling free and discounted phone, data and hotspot plans to low-income Americans through the federal Lifeline program and California LifeLine.
TruConnect is a mobile virtual network operator. It sells no-contract voice, text and data plans, free subsidized smartphones, tablets and hotspots, and prepaid plans on the T-Mobile network. Its customers are mainly low-income households eligible for Lifeline and California LifeLine (and, through 2022, the Affordable Connectivity Program). The company says it is the #1 California LifeLine provider, operates in 46 US states and territories, and has 30 retail stores in California. It is privately held and family-owned, with debt financing from lenders such as Banyan Mezzanine Funds. It is not an AI vendor. It has used Five9 AI Agent Assist in its contact centers since 2021 and won a Five9 CX Leader of the Year award in 2024.
