About Ring
Ring makes smart video doorbells, indoor and outdoor cameras, the Ring Alarm system and smart lighting for consumers. It also runs the Neighbors community safety app. Its model combines one-time hardware sales with recurring Ring Protect subscriptions for video recording, storage and smart alerts. Founded in 2013 as Doorbot and renamed Ring in 2014, it raised more than $200M before Amazon bought it in 2018 for about $1B–$1.15B. Founder Jamie Siminoff returned in 2025 and is pushing AI-based security assistants (2026).
