ION Geophysical

ION Geophysical was a technology-focused company founded in 1968 as Input/Output. It sold seismic data libraries, imaging and processing services, survey software and offshore operations optimization to oil and gas exploration and production companies. Its revenue was about $123M in 2020, and its multi-client library covered over 637,000 km of 2D and 317,000 sq km of 3D data. It filed Chapter 11 in 2022, and its assets were sold: TGS bought the multi-client and processing business, which had over $86M of revenue in 2021, and CGG's Sercel bought the software business.
