About Maverick Silicon

Overview

Maverick Capital's semiconductor and hardware venture arm.

History and team

Maverick Silicon launched in 2024 as a strategy of Maverick Capital, the Dallas firm Lee Ainslie founded in 1993. Bloomberg reported in August 2025 that Maverick seeded the fund with internal capital a year earlier and opened it to outside client money in 2025. SEC filings name Lee Ainslie and Andrew Homan as managing partners of Maverick Silicon. Manish Muthal, a former Xilinx datacenter marketing VP, is senior managing director. Some databases list a San Francisco office for the fund, while PitchBook lists the fund manager at Maverick Capital's Dallas address. PitchBook lists an $813M fund size and an open fund status. Maverick has not published fund details on its own site, so treat that figure as third-party data.

AI investing

Maverick describes the fund as backing private companies that design or produce chips, hardware, software or processes serving the demand for AI compute. It targets companies with validated technology and near-term commercial deployment. Its recent lead rounds fit that pattern. Lyte builds custom silicon, sensors and spatial software for robot perception. Mueon builds modular 3D compute and memory systems for AI data centers. The firm takes board seats on its lead deals. Andrew Homan joined Lyte's board and Manish Muthal joined Mueon's board.

Stages and check sizes

The fund focuses on late-stage growth, and the Lounge deals desk shows it leading a Series A and a Series C. One third-party profile (f4.fund) lists Series B, Series C and growth stages with checks of $20M to $150M. Maverick has not confirmed these figures. The same profile says the fund excludes pure software companies without hardware IP, and early-stage pre-revenue startups.
