Customers range from developers and startups to large enterprises. It is sold as a usage- and subscription-based SaaS, with tiered plans. Founded in 2009, it raised about $82M in venture funding. It went public on the NYSE (SEND), reported $111.9M revenue in 2017, and was acquired by Twilio in 2019. It is not primarily an AI company; it is a communications and email infrastructure business.
