Pika (legal name Mellis, Inc., also called Pika Labs) sells a web-based idea-to-video platform with text-to-video, image-to-video and video editing tools. Its users range from casual creators and marketers to professional filmmakers, and it runs on a freemium and subscription model. Demi Guo and Chenlin Meng, both former Stanford AI PhD students, founded it in 2023. It has raised about $135M in total, including a $35M Series A in Nov 2023 and an $80M Series B in Jun 2024 at a $470M valuation, with investors such as Lightspeed, Spark Capital and Greycroft. Third-party estimates put headcount at about 105 in 2026.
