Operator (operator.com) is a San Francisco company, backed by Expa, that lets consumers text a request for a product and have a network of human experts source it through partner retailers. Crunchbase lists it as a Series B company, and Tracxn and PitchBook report about $25M raised across Series A (2015) and Series B (2016) rounds from investors including Greylock, Expa and GGV. PitchBook says it was acquired by SHOPPO in June 2020. Public sources describe a human-powered e-commerce service, not an AI product, so the 'AI company' label could not be verified, and the current operating status is unclear.
