DocStar is an ECM and intelligent document processing platform that combines AI-assisted document capture, metadata search, workflow automation and accounts payable automation. It can be deployed in the cloud, on-premises or in hybrid setups. The company says it serves more than 4,000 organizations in insurance, financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, legal, education and government. It sells software on a license and subscription basis. It was founded in 1994 as the document imaging division of BitWise Designs and was acquired by Epicor on January 3, 2017. Its 2025.1 release in April 2025 added natural-language AI document search and GovCloud compliance.
