Confluent
Confluent was founded in 2014 by the creators of Apache Kafka. It sells Confluent Cloud (fully managed), Confluent Platform (self-managed), Flink stream processing, stream governance and WarpStream, mainly on subscription and consumption-based pricing. It reported about $963M revenue in FY2024 and had raised roughly $456M in venture funding before its 2021 Nasdaq IPO. IBM completed its roughly $11B acquisition ($31 per share) in March 2026, and Confluent now operates as an IBM company. It serves more than 6,500 enterprises, including about 40% of the Fortune 500.
