Amber Electric
Amber Electric, founded in 2017 by Chris Thompson and Dan Adams, sells electricity plans linked to real-time wholesale prices for a monthly subscription fee. Its SmartShift automation software schedules home batteries, solar systems and EV charging around forecast prices. Customers are mainly Australian residential households, and Amber is expanding into Europe and other markets. It raised a A$45M Series D in June 2025 led by ETF Partners, with Square Peg, Rubio Impact Ventures, Breakthrough Victoria and Gentrack taking part. It bought EV-charging software firm Charge HQ in January 2025. A further ~A$10M came from E.ON Next and Virescent Ventures in September 2025. It is an electricity retailer, not a pure AI company.
