Amber Electric raises $55.9M Series E
The round was led by 1GT, Morgan Stanley Investment Management's climate fund. Existing investors Environmental Technologies Fund, Innovation Victoria and E.ON also took part. The round was nearly twice oversubscribed. Valuation has not been reported. The company also announced it has re-domiciled its business operations to the United Kingdom. Amber says it now orchestrates more than half of all automated home batteries in Australia, up from more than 40 per cent at its Series C announcement last September. Its platform connects households to wholesale electricity prices and uses software to shift battery, solar and EV usage toward cheaper and greener periods. The money is earmarked for Australian growth and for Europe, where Amber's technology already underpins E.ON Next's "Next Optimise" product. The company is also introducing vehicle-to-grid functionality. For AI founders, the deal is an example of applied forecasting and optimization software scaling in a regulated physical market. The strategic backer is also the first European distribution partner, which shortens the path into a new region. The harder work lies in per-country tariff logic, utility integrations and compliance, which determine how quickly a model that works in one market can be repeated in another.
