Shorelight is an international student recruitment and enrollment platform that helps nonprofit US universities attract, enroll and support international students.
Shorelight runs a marketplace and student-success platform that links international students, US nonprofit universities and service providers. It supports students with program matching, applications, visa help, on-campus transition and career services. Universities partner with Shorelight to grow international enrollment and revenue. Founded in 2013 by CEO Tom Dretler, it is private and backed by Sterling Partners and others. It closed a $30M revolving credit facility with CIBC Innovation Banking, and its latest funding round was debt in May 2024. Reported total funding ranges from $42.5M to $95.7M depending on the source. Headcount has shrunk from about 620–640 in 2023 to about 330–380 in 2026.
