What it does

Sets up a Prisma Postgres database connection by inspecting your project, reusing an existing database if available, or provisioning a new one through v0, Vercel Marketplace, or CLI tools. Use this when you need a working database endpoint and environment config without manually managing ORM setup. Respects your choice of ORM (Prisma, Drizzle, pg) or database-only mode.

  • Detects existing database connections and reuses them; checks for secrets and environment files
  • Provisions new databases via v0/Vercel Marketplace integrations or authenticated CLI/MCP tools
  • Separates database provisioning from ORM configuration; hands off schema work to prisma-orm-setup
  • Honors explicit driver or ORM choices (pg, Drizzle, database-only) without forcing Prisma
