OpenAI will test visual ads inside ChatGPT image generation and ships a full ad-measurement stack

OpenAI said it will begin testing a new ad format later this month in the US: labeled visual ads shown while a user waits for an image to generate, kept separate from the generated image itself. Alongside the format it announced measurement integrations with Hightouch, Tealium and LiveRamp for conversions, AppsFlyer, Adjust, Branch, Triple Whale and Kochava for attribution, and DoubleVerify and Integral Ad Science for brand safety. With 1.2B weekly users, this turns ChatGPT into a performance-marketing channel with the plumbing advertisers expect, and it is the clearest sign yet of how the free tier will be monetized.
