Five9 agrees to buy AI contact center startup Level AI for $325M

Five9, the contact center software provider, said on November 5, 2026 that it signed a definitive agreement to acquire Level AI for $325 million in cash. The deal was disclosed alongside Five9's third-quarter results. Five9's board unanimously approved the purchase, which will be paid from the company's balance sheet and is expected to close in the fourth quarter, subject to customary conditions. Level AI, founded in 2019 and based in Mountain View, California, builds AI applications for customer experience teams.
SiliconANGLE reports that the price equals almost half of the $738 million in cash and marketable investments Five9 held at quarter end. Another write-up puts the price at about 47% of $697.7 million, so readers should check the figure against Five9's filings. Third-quarter revenue rose 13% to $323.3 million, and adjusted earnings of 82 cents per share beat the 80-cent forecast. Guidance for the current quarter of 88 to 92 cents per share sits below the 99 cents analysts expected. Reports put the share decline at roughly 21% to 23%.
Five9 and Level AI have worked together since 2022, with Level AI's applications sold through the Five9 CX Marketplace. Five9 cited standalone annual recurring revenue of about $20 million as of October 31, growing roughly 50%, and a price near 11 times next-twelve-month ARR. Five9 expects the deal to accelerate its agentic product roadmap by about 12 months and to dilute adjusted EBITDA margin by about one point in 2027. Level AI is targeted to reach EBITDA breakeven about six months after closing.
Why it matters
For founders selling AI into customer service, the deal shows a platform vendor buying agent capabilities instead of building all of them. Level AI raised about $72.4 million across four rounds, according to Startup Fortune, so the price is roughly four times its disclosed funding. Founders expecting a strategic exit should weigh that gap against how quickly a platform buyer can absorb their product.
For investors, the valuation multiple is the signal: about 11 times forward recurring revenue for a company with roughly $20 million in ARR. Public acquirers also absorb near-term margin pressure, since Five9 expects about one point of 2027 dilution. Operators should expect customers of acquired tools to ask about roadmap, pricing and data handling in the months after a deal closes.
