Five9 to acquire Level AI, a customer experience AI startup, for $325M
Five9 has signed a definitive agreement to buy Level AI for $325 million in cash, and disclosed it alongside third-quarter 2026 results on November 5. The purchase is funded from Five9's own balance sheet, and the price is subject to customary adjustments tied to working capital, debt and transaction costs. Five9's board approved the deal unanimously. The Five9 Board of Directors unanimously approved the agreement to acquire Level AI in a transaction that values Level AI at approximately $325 million, to be paid in cash from the Five9 balance sheet. Five9 entered the agreement on November 5, 2026, and Level AI is to become a wholly owned subsidiary.
Under the structure, Level AI would survive the merger as a Five9 subsidiary rather than being folded into the parent's operations. Holders of enough Level AI voting power signed support agreements, so once written consent is delivered, no further Level AI stockholder approval is needed. The acquisition is expected to close in Q4 2026, subject to customary closing conditions, and Five9's guidance does not include any contribution from it.
Level AI builds AI applications for customer experience teams, covering agent performance, automation across voice and digital channels, and turning conversations into business insights. Level AI serves enterprise customers including Gusto, Chime, Empyrean, and VistaPrint, and handles more than one billion customer interactions annually. The two companies have worked together since 2022, with Level AI's applications sold through the Five9 CX Marketplace. Funding history is less settled. A $20 million round cited in a prior report could not be confirmed in the sources reviewed. CryptoBriefing reported roughly $73 million raised in total, including a $39.4 million Series C in 2024.
Why it matters
For founders, the deal shows that conversation data and the analytics built on it can carry strategic value when a large platform needs them. Level AI runs on its own model family built for customer conversations, which Five9 says delivers lower costs and latency than frontier models and gives enterprises tighter control over data privacy. Teams building voice and customer experience products should expect buyers to weigh model cost, response speed and data handling alongside feature breadth.
