Early progress on accelerating drug development with Claude

Divergence Labs had Claude produce roughly 35,000 antibody designs over 22 largely autonomous work sessions, about 2,750 hours of compute. Three designs could bind IgE and 20 could dislodge it, with three of those beating the standard medication in early tests. At Generate Biomedicines, six scientists used an agent system to propose 186 CAR T-cell designs for first-round lab testing. The update covers six outside partners, including Bristol Myers Squibb, BigHat Biosciences, Enveda and The Column Group, plus Anthropic's own programs. Those include Mithril Medicine, a one-person company Anthropic acquired that works on rare childhood muscular dystrophies, where human trials could begin by late 2028. Most of the reported work is preclinical, and no drug from it has been tested in people. For founders, the notable figure is the labor shift: a manufacturing document review that took over 25 hours fell under three, and one regulatory draft took four hours instead of about three months. These are company-reported lab and workflow results, not clinical evidence, so buyers in regulated sectors will likely ask for measured cycle-time gains on specific tasks before paying for similar claims.
