Scape: An intelligent email inbox that works for you
Stockholm-based startup Scape launched its AI email client on Product Hunt on October 29, 2026. The Mac desktop app sorts incoming mail so that only messages needing attention appear in the main view, and it combines several email accounts into one inbox. Custom labels it sets up can sync to Gmail. The story record logs 317 upvotes and 66 comments, while an AI product digest dated October 31 counted 326 votes and 67 comments.
Drafting is the core feature. Scape reads threads alongside meeting transcripts, calendar entries and attached files, then prepares reply options and can create or edit attachments for a draft. Its meeting capture starts with a single click and does not send a bot into the call, and its transcription covers 99 languages. The app does not send anything on its own, since the user reviews and approves each message first. It also tracks open conversations and follow-ups.
The product ran as an invite-only preview for about two months before launch. Scape came out of stealth in July 2026 with $3.2 million from Y Combinator, General Catalyst and FundersClub. Melvin Hagberg founded the company, and Elis Hodzic joined as co-founder in 2025. Downloads are free with no credit card required.
Why it matters
For founders, Scape treats email as a place where work gets done rather than a messaging channel, and its value depends on context pulled from mail, calendars, meetings and files. Teams that can connect those sources reliably will produce better drafts than tools that only read the message in front of them. Keeping a person in the approval step is a design choice that buyers in regulated sectors are likely to ask about. Scape says customer data is not used to train its models and cites GDPR, ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type II, a bar that rivals selling into enterprise will be measured against.
For operators and investors, the $3.2 million seed round is small, yet it came from Y Combinator and large venture firms, which signals institutional interest in AI-native inboxes. Email reaches a very large base of professionals, so a free download and sync with Gmail labels may matter more for adoption than any single feature. The category is crowded, so conversion from free use to paid plans will show whether the approach holds.
