SCB 10X was set up in January 2020 as the venture arm of SCBX Group, the fintech holding company behind Siam Commercial Bank. Mukaya (Tai) Panich founded the firm and served as its CEO, and the team grew from eight people at launch to more than 50 by 2025. In May 2025 Panich left to start AIconic Ventures, a separate AI-focused fund, and Kaweewut Temphuwapat, previously chief innovation officer at SCBX, was named CEO. Before the 2020 launch, an earlier SCBX fintech venture unit, Digital Ventures, made investments. Fund figures reported publicly: Global Venturing described a $700m corporate venture fund formed in 2020. In 2021 the firm launched a $50m fund for blockchain, DeFi and digital asset startups. It also backs Pokee AI, which raised a $12M seed round in June 2025 according to CB Insights, and Guardrails AI, an AI safety company the firm announced on its site. Its venture page also lists AI21 Labs, which builds enterprise AI agents, and EPIC Microsystems, which makes power delivery technology for AI data centers. Public sources I found do not name the partners who lead its AI investments.
PitchBook and CB Insights list the firm's deal history at pre-seed, seed and Series A. A 2021 announcement described its strategy as investing in early and growth stage startups globally.
