Deepgram acquires Daily, maker of the open-source Pipecat voice agent framework
Neither company disclosed the purchase price. Daily hosts infrastructure for voice and video calls and maintains Pipecat, a framework that coordinates speech recognition, language models and speech synthesis in one real-time pipeline. PitchBook data cited by TechCrunch puts Daily's total funding above $62M, with investors including Tiger Global and Highfield Capital. Daily's co-founder said the team preferred Deepgram because its chief executive committed to keeping Pipecat open source permanently. Deepgram reached unicorn status earlier this year with a $130M Series C, and says developers can plug different models into the framework. For builders, the deal shows that voice agent infrastructure is consolidating under model vendors while open frameworks stay neutral. Teams that depend on an open framework should check the governance terms attached to any acquisition. Revenue was not reported, so the figure below is an estimate.
