Vicinity Energy
Vicinity Energy owns and operates district energy systems that supply steam, hot water, chilled water and carbon-free eSteam to commercial, institutional, healthcare, university and government buildings in 12 US cities.
Vicinity Energy is the largest owner and operator of district energy systems in the US. It runs 19 systems in 12 cities, including Boston, Cambridge, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Kansas City. It sells steam, hot water and chilled water through underground networks to commercial real estate, universities, hospitals and government customers, replacing on-site boilers and chillers. It was created in 2020 when Antin Infrastructure Partners bought Veolia North America's US district energy assets. It supplies about 250 million sq ft of building space and was the first US operator to offer carbon-free eSteam, backed by a 42 MW electric boiler at its Kendall plant. This is an energy utility, not an AI company.
