FreshRealm manufactures ready-to-cook and ready-to-heat fresh meals and meal kits, and handles sourcing, production and fulfillment for retailers and meal-kit brands. Its customers included Blue Apron (about 75% of revenue), Walmart, Kroger and Amazon Fresh. It was founded in 2013, raised a $32M round in 2021 and a $200M round in 2022, and moved its HQ from California to Lancaster, Texas in 2024. After Listeria recalls in 2025 and the loss of anchor customers, it filed for Chapter 11 in April 2026 with $63M in debtor-in-possession financing. It also announced layoffs of more than 1,000 workers across Texas, New Jersey and California. It is a food manufacturer, not an AI company.
