Quick update: AI-Atlas is officially live on Product Hunt today!

Some of you have already followed my journey building it independently, and I genuinely appreciate the feedback I've received here.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on the launch, especially whether the product's value and evaluation methodology come across clearly.

If you have a minute, I'd really appreciate your feedback in the Product Hunt discussion. And if you think the project deserves some support, that would mean a lot too.

Hi everyone 👋 A quick refresher and an update.

Who I am: Alex (Pop Alexandru), a 17-year-old high schooler from Romania, ICYS 2026 Gold Medalist and Independent AI researcher :) I’m building AI-Atlas on my own.

What I’m building: “AI engineer” is easy to write on a CV and hard to check. Stars and followers measure popularity, not the work. AI-Atlas reads the code instead. Enter a GitHub username and it scores every public AI project on a 7-part rubric across six fields (ML, Computer Vision, Data Science, NLP & LLMs, AI Agents, MLOps), and every score links to the files it’s based on. The goal is a trusted, verifiable signal of AI skill that developers can show and companies can hire on.

Where it stands, about three weeks after the first mapping:

• #1 Product of the Week on DevHunt
• 134 GitHub accounts mapped, 53 of them in the last 7 days
• 1,683 repositories evaluated, 29,091 pieces of evidence behind the scores
• 48 owners verified their Atlas and are ranked on the leaderboards
• First paying customers, and one has already come back to buy again

Shipped this week:

• Agent projects count as AI work (code that calls a model and is built as an agent)
• Clear, published scoring rules, e.g. a missing README costs documentation points. The methodology page always states exactly what the scorer does
• Rescan a single project for 1 credit after pushing changes, and a fresh roadmap once its score improves
• A firm rule: we never rescan anyone without their consent, so nobody’s leaderboard place changes behind their back

Next: we launch on Product Hunt tomorrow (Fri, Oct 30). Any support or honest feedback there means a lot 🙏: producthunt.com/products/ai-atlas?launch=ai-atlas

For those who’ve raised for an early AI tool: what would you want to see from a product at this stage before backing it? And if this is something you’d invest in, I’d love a short call.

Try it on your own GitHub (free): getaiatlas.com/?ref=lounge

Hi everyone, I’m Alex, an 17 year old kid from Romania, aspiring to become an AI researcher. I built AI-Atlas: it reads the actual code in your public GitHub (not your imports, not your stars) and maps what you’ve really built in AI across 6 fields (ML, computer vision, data science, NLP/LLMs, agents, MLOps), with a score and evidence for every project.

One thing surprised me in the first week: Europe is carrying the leaderboard. 17 of the 30 ranked builders are European, from 12 countries so far: Germany, France, the Netherlands, the UK, Spain, Poland, Sweden and more. The US is behind.

Every country has its own board, and some still have just one or two people on them, so it’s very possible to be #1 in your country right now.

👉 Map your GitHub (free, ~3 min): getaiatlas.com/?ref=lounge-eu

Claim your Atlas and you appear on your country’s board, and on a field board if you have work there. If you’d rather not be listed or indexed, just don’t claim it.

I’d love to hear from European AI builders, researchers and founders: what does your AI scene look like where you are? 👇

Hey everyone, I’m Alex, the 17 year old founder of AI-Atlas.

A bit about me: I want to become an AI researcher. I’ve been building ML projects for almost 2 years, and earlier this year I won a gold medal at the International Conference of Young Scientists 2026, with a bio-ML project. Doing research that young taught me something frustrating: the work is what matters, but almost nobody looks at it. Applications, scholarships and internships ask for grades, titles, degrees and CVs, and a CV can’t show whether you’ve actually trained a model, shipped an agent or built a pipeline that works.

Why I built AI-Atlas: I wanted a way for anyone, whether a student, a self-taught builder or someone without a famous school on their CV, to prove what they can do with evidence instead of claims.

What I’m building: AI-Atlas (getaiatlas.com) reads your public GitHub and maps what you’ve actually built in AI. Each project is assessed, you get an Atlas Score and level, and there’s a live leaderboard by country. Paid users get a personal roadmap and a prediction of where their work is heading. A resume says what you claim; your Atlas shows what you’ve built.

What’s working: Small developer communities. Traffic from DevHunt and the Hugging Face Discord converts at about 45% from scan to claimed profile. In the first weeks, 94 developers were mapped and 25 verified builders from 10 countries joined the leaderboard. We launch on Product Hunt this Friday (Oct 30).

One thing I need: Intros to people who hire or train AI engineers, such as bootcamps, AI-education platforms and technical recruiters. I want to learn whether a verified “proof of work” score is something they’d use or pay for.

If you code, scan your GitHub and tell me where the score feels wrong. That’s the most useful feedback I can get. And if you’ve built something in research or AI yourself, I’d love to hear about it :)🙌

Whether you code or not, I’d love to connect. Say hi below or DM me!
