About
I'm a plastic surgeon turned entrepreneur. After pulling the eject handle on my plastic surgery practice, I spent nearly two decades building business financial apps, advising companies from startups to Fortune 500, and helping one digital company scale from zero to $40M ARR in 18 months.
Today, I'm leading Washington State's first and only AI-in-education project — using artificial intelligence to apply scientific principles of successful learning and instructional design into live and online courses. My guiding principle is Human > AI > Human: technology serves the learning, not the other way around.
My path to AI in education wasn't random — it's the convergence of everything I've done. Through 27 years of formal education and training — first grade through college, medical school, and seven years of surgical residency — I experienced firsthand how even the highest-stakes education can be undermined by average-to-poor teaching, and how transformative the rare great teacher can be. My first grade teacher, Mrs. Tucker, was one of those rare ones. I've been a lifelong student of accelerated learning techniques since college. As a parent, my wife and I were deeply involved in our children's education. I actively study the principles, strategies, and tools behind scientifically proven learning and instructional design.
Professionally, I built More Profit Rocket and its suite of business financial apps — Profit Stash, Clara — and co-authored Financial Statements Made Practical, now used in two U.S. business schools. AI in education isn't a pivot. It's the natural expansion of a lifetime spent at the intersection of learning, business, and technology.
What I do: I help educators and organizations use AI to apply proven learning science so their learners learn faster, feel more confident, and can apply what they've learned — not just recite it.
