Mistral opens Managed Agents in public preview with a visual workflow builder

Mistral AI's release notes, dated November 5, 2026, place Managed Agents in public preview inside Mistral Studio. The feature runs autonomous agents built with the company's Python Agents SDK. These agents can work in the background for hours or days, and after a crash they resume from the last finished step. The same code can run in a local process during development, on a self-hosted worker started with a serve command, or on Mistral-managed infrastructure via a deploy command.
The release also adds a workflow builder that turns a plain-language description into a working workflow. Mistral's Vibe assistant generates the workflow, checks it, and deploys it, while developers can inspect and edit the code at each step. Agent sessions now send model and tool traces to Studio by default, and a trace can be turned into a record in an evaluation dataset. According to the release notes, spans are redacted on the worker before they leave it.
DataStudios reports that pricing for the new features is not stated in the announcement, release notes or product page. AlphaSignal reports that private-cloud and on-premises deployments are due at the end of November.
Why it matters
For teams running long jobs, the practical gains are durability and visibility. An agent that resumes from its last finished step avoids repeating completed work after a failure, and default traces show model and tool calls without extra setup. Evaluation datasets built from those traces give engineers a shorter path from a failed run to a tested fix. Teams should still plan for change, because Mistral's documentation says the preview's APIs, behavior and limits may change in ways that require code updates.
For buyers and investors, the release widens what one vendor covers: agent runtime, workflow design, search, evaluation and hosting. That consolidates vendor decisions, but preview status, Mistral-hosted only availability and undisclosed pricing make a production commitment harder to scope. Operators should also set a tool permission policy early, because the SDK's default permission mode runs tools without asking. For investors, the signal is that Mistral competes on the full production stack, not only on models.
Key points

- 2Agents run in the background for hours or days and resume from the last finished step after a crash.
- 3Studio tracing is on by default for managed agents, covering agent turns, model calls and tool calls.
- 4The workflow builder turns plain-language descriptions into working workflows, with code visible at each step.
