Anthropic adds 20 scientific foundations and institutions to its AI for Science program

Anthropic highlighted 20 scientific foundations, institutions and research groups that it has partnered with under its AI for Science program. The funders receive Claude credits and distribute them to researchers. Named partners include the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, the Simons Foundation and Schmidt Sciences. Two collaborations stand out. Janelia Research Campus is developing a Model Hardware Standard, now in research preview, that lets AI agents safely operate lab instruments. The Allen Institute is building teams of AI agents to analyze large open datasets, work that Anthropic says turns months of manual analysis into hours. The program began in May 2025 and has supported hundreds of projects. For founders building AI for research, the program signals that instrument control and dataset analysis are becoming standard agent workloads. A shared hardware specification could become an integration target for lab automation startups.
