Factory acquires Typedef to give its coding agents enterprise data context
Typedef's context layer maps how data moves across enterprise systems, so agents can see lineage before they change code. Factory says Droids will use that context to plan migrations, debug pipelines and refactor models. Neither company disclosed the price or deal terms.
Factory builds autonomous software engineering agents called Droids, and the Typedef purchase adds a data layer to that product. The deal came two days after Cognition announced its acquisition of Corridor, another buyer adding security and context tooling to coding agents.
For founders, agent output depends on what the agent can see inside enterprise data. Teams building coding or data agents should treat lineage and access context as core infrastructure, because larger platforms are now buying it. Founders who plan to let agents act on production data should design that layer early rather than retrofit it later.
