Equiti buys Lexi, an AI medical interpretation startup, in undisclosed deal
Terms were not disclosed for the October 28 transaction, which folds Lexi's real-time AI interpretation into Martti, an existing video service that supplies qualified human interpreters in more than 250 languages. Dealroom reports that Lexi's product has supported more than 60,000 minutes of conversation.
The deal reflects a hybrid model in healthcare language access, where AI covers routine, low-risk exchanges and human interpreters handle clinical or consent-related conversations. Equiti says it wants each patient interaction matched with the right tool, so the acquisition adds a second modality to its service line.
For founders, the takeaway is that a company with a $1.4M pre-seed round can attract a strategic buyer within about a year when its product fits an existing workflow. Vertical AI tools that plug into clinical systems tend to find buyers that already own the customer relationship.
