Elastic acquires Deductive for ~$70M
Elastic's 10-Q says it bought 100% of Deductive AI, Inc.'s share capital on August 21, 2026, for about $70 million in cash. The filing says the purchase price allocation is still being finalized. Elastic announced the closing on August 24. Existing Deductive customers will keep getting support while integration plans are worked out, and product roadmap details are due in the coming months. TechCrunch's source put the price at up to $85 million. That was more than double Deductive's $33 million seed-round valuation. The same source put annual recurring revenue at roughly $1 million, so the price reflects technology and team more than revenue. Deductive, founded in 2023, built an SRE agent that investigates production incidents using code, telemetry and organizational knowledge. It will be folded into Elastic Observability. This is a small, tuck-in purchase of the kind Elastic has made before. It bought Jina AI in October 2025 for roughly $44 million and Keep for about $11 million. For founders building agents for DevOps and incident response, the exit signal is clear: incumbents will pay for working agent technology even with minimal revenue. They are also buying it instead of building it, which narrows the room for standalone products in observability.
