Perfect World Co., Ltd. (SZSE: 002624) was founded in 2004 by Chi Yufeng. It develops its own 3D game engines and makes free-to-play MMORPGs and mobile games, and it also runs esports and film/TV production (Perfect World Pictures). It earns money from in-game purchases, licensing to overseas operators, and publishing. This includes distributing Valve's Dota 2 and Counter-Strike 2 in China. It listed on Nasdaq in 2007, went private in 2015, and merged with its Shenzhen-listed film arm in 2016. PitchBook reports FY2025 revenue of about US$926M. It is a games and media company, not primarily an AI company.
