TrueCar
Online automotive marketplace that gives car shoppers upfront pricing and connects them with a network of Certified Dealers. It sells dealer lead and marketing services to dealers and OEMs.
TrueCar runs a car-buying platform with pricing data, vehicle research tools and discounts. Its customers are consumers, who use it free, and dealers and automakers, who pay for it. TrueCar makes money from fees paid by its Certified Dealer network and partners such as credit unions. Founded in 2005 as Zag.com, it was taken private in January 2026 in a $227M deal led by founder Scott Painter through Fair Holdings. Its 2024 revenue was about $175.6M. It is headquartered in Santa Monica, California, not Texas, though it has an Austin, Texas sales office. It is a car marketplace, not an AI company.
