Basecamp
Basecamp, made by 37signals, is project management and team communication software sold by subscription to small and mid-sized businesses and teams.
37signals (formerly Basecamp LLC, which was the company's name until it reverted to 37signals) sells Basecamp, a web-based tool for to-do lists, messaging, scheduling and file sharing. It also makes the HEY email service and created the Ruby on Rails framework. It is privately held and largely bootstrapped, and it earns money from paid subscriptions. The company's own marketing is about calm project management, not AI. Third-party estimates put its customers at about 252K and its revenue at about $280M ARR (2024), but these figures are unverified. Headcount fell after about one-third of staff resigned in 2021.
