Docusign buys AI procurement startup Suplari in deal with undisclosed terms
Docusign announced it has acquired Suplari, an AI-native procurement intelligence company, and says the team and product will extend its contract management offering. Terms were not disclosed in the announcement, so the purchase price is unknown. Suplari raised a $10.3 million Series A in 2018 and was acquired by Microsoft in 2021 and it later spun out, which makes this its second exit.
The deal adds spend analytics to Docusign's agreement workflow products as enterprises push AI into procurement and contract review. Buyers in procurement software want analytics that sit on top of existing contract and spend records.
For founders, the lesson is that a narrow AI tool can find a second home inside a workflow platform. Builders should map which incumbent systems of record would benefit from their data models, because those buyers often close quietly.
