SiMa.ai raises $150M at $1.45B for physical-AI edge chips
Fidelity Management & Research and Amplify co-led the round. Alter Venture Partners, Dell Technologies Capital and StepStone took part, and AllianceBernstein, Baron Capital and J.P. Morgan came in as new investors. Total funding is now $500M. The previous mark was $960M, set after an $85M Series B in July 2025. The money is earmarked for a next-generation system-on-chip called Modalix and an agentic development environment named Palette Neat, with new hardware targeting 1,000 TOPS in the first half of 2028. That still trails Nvidia's Jetson AGX Thor, which offers 2,000 FP4 TOPS today. One investor commentary says design-win counts and shipment volumes are not disclosed, and names Hailo and Qualcomm's edge lines as the closer comparables. For founders building on robots, drones or cameras, the round is a funded alternative to Nvidia for on-device inference, but the performance gap runs until 2028. Edge hardware also sells more slowly than cloud contracts, so roadmap dates matter more than the valuation. Founders pricing their own edge-AI hardware rounds now have a public data point of $1.45B on $500M raised.
