Runable raises $21M Series A
Susquehanna Venture Capital and Nexus Venture Partners co-led the round, with existing investors Together Fund and Array VC participating. CEO Umesh Kumar said the all-equity round values Runable at $65 million post-money. The company, founded in 2025, passed a $2 million annualized run rate within three weeks of launching payments in March. Reported user counts vary between 1.5 million and 1.7 million registered users, and the team is about 15 people. The economics are unusual. Users consumed more than 1 trillion tokens over 90 days, with roughly 60% to 70% of that from paying customers. Runable runs negative gross margins because it subsidizes customers' AI usage, and it expects falling inference costs and model-stack improvements to help over time. Funds go toward growth capabilities, a free educational module called Runable Academy, and hiring across engineering, machine learning, product, growth and support. For founders, the pitch is a bet that value is moving from generating software to producing customers. Runable competes indirectly with OpenAI, Anthropic, Cursor, Lovable and Replit, and sees general-purpose agents such as Manus and Genspark as closer rivals. The numbers also show a risk: usage-heavy consumer agents can scale quickly while margins depend on inference prices, not pricing power.
